Immanuel
Immanuel,
the prophets have foretold your time on earth.
Immanuel,
all
The Star of
Jacob shall soon rise,
To
free the prisoner and heal the blind man’s eyes.
Immanuel.
‘Til Gabriel came, I never knew that such a thing could be.
And even
now, I marvel that our God has chosen me
To
be the mother of the Savior of man.
I’ll teach
you love, though I can never change the plan.
Immanuel.
Like any
mother, I long to hold and kiss those tiny hands.
And yet I
know, they must be pierced before you break death’s
bands.
The
prophecies have shown, before you reach your throne,
You must
face the darkness, you must be betrayed,
You must be
forsaken, left alone, Immanuel.
Immanuel.
The depth of
Father’s love is shown in that he sent his firstborn son, it’s true.
It’s hard I
know, because (remember) you are my firstborn too.
Soon I shall
hold you in my arms, beneath the promised shining star,
And men will
come to worship you from near and far.
Immanuel.
But none
shall love you as I do. My arms ache to
cradle you.
Oh, my
darling baby I love you, already.
Your mother,
Dear, is waiting….
O come, O come, O come –
(soon!)
Immanuel.
